Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be a brutal game, especially during the opening hours. You’ll find yourself falling in battle far more than you’d like to admit, but what if I told you there was a quick way to save your Wakestones by using something else?
Stamina is one of the most important things you’ll need to keep your eyes on during the heat of a battle, but remember to also keep track of your Health — the second this bar hits zero and your character starts falling to the ground in defeat, open up the menu and consume either a Salubrious Draught or a Roborant with health restoration properties to rejoin the fight without using a Wakestone. I found myself being bested by just about anything that came my way during the opening hours of the game — and to be fair, for quite some time afterward — and this trick saved my life and my Wakestones more than I’d like to admit. Both the Salubrious Draught and Roborant are easy enough to come by, so get ready to start kicking butt and taking names once again after doing this. This comes in handy, especially during fights with more powerful enemies such as the many Cyclops you’ll encounter while exploring the world.
Since Wakestones are fewer and further between, using this trick can give you just enough of a boost to get back into the action. You can take as many as you need to refill your health gauge back to its maximum, minus the Loss Gauge, or you can hope that your Mage is swift on their feet and ready to heal you so you can keep saving the world together.
