Tekken 8 Fan Adds Classic PS1 Skins For Jin, Kazuya, And Paul

A talented Tekken 8 modder is adding classic skins to the game that give characters their pointy polygonal looks from the PS1 era of Tekken that started it all.

As proven by all of the gaming, film, and TV characters (such as Walter White and Leon Kennedy) that have already been created, Tekken 8's customisation options are a massive improvement over what was found in Tekken 7. Even if you're not trying to create an unofficial Mortal Kombat crossover, there's still a lot for Tekken fans to appreciate thanks to all of the returning outfits from classic games.

While these classic outfits are plenty nostalgic on their own, it does feel like they'd be even more of a treat for long-term fans if there was an option to make fighters look like they did in the PS1 games. Tekken 8 may not officially allow players to do that, but that's exactly where modders are coming in.

As showcased by YouTuber Omega Mishima in a mods compilation video, TekkenMods user Chris is doing what Tekken Project seemingly doesn't want to do and creating mods that not only give fighters their classic outfits from Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, but also make their models look as sharp and pointy as they did in those games.

So far, Chris has created three mods for Tekken 8 that add these PS1 models. It seems that they're a big fan of Paul, as the first two mods are exclusively for him and give him his design from Tekken 2 and Tekken 3. Not only does this make him look as polygonal as you remember, but it also gives him back his classic haircut in its blocky look as well.

If Paul isn't your thing, then Chris has also made a mod that gives Jin his outfit from Tekken 3 and Kazuya his design from Tekken 2. It's a little weird seeing the dramatic face-offs between father and son without a hint of a facial expression, but it's a nice treat for Tekken fans who have been following their journey for so long.

It's not clear if Chris plans to make any more of these classic skin mods just yet, but seeing how they've done two characters and four individual outfits now, it seems like a fair bet that more of the roster will get blockier soon.
